Earlier this year, restrictions were in place if you planned to travel with your pets. Service dogs were only allowed, and only with the proper paperwork in place. Now airlines have other requirements in place for those wanting to travel with their furry companions. Following are summaries for the three airlines operating out of Friedman Memorial airport with links for more detailed information.

Alaska

The airline has a $100 fee and encourages you to call reservations at 1-800-252-7522 to make arrangements. If you are connecting via another airline, contact the airline directly to obtain fee information, policies, etc. There may also be restrictions in place depending on your destination. Space for pets traveling in the cabin or the cargo compartment is subject to availability.

Delta

Some pets can travel with Delta as a carry-on or shipped, depending on their size. Call in advance to make arrangements at 1-800-2221-1212. The fee is $125 for the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. See links below for pricing for other destinations.

United

Domesticated dogs and cats can travel in carriers stowed underneath the seat in front of you. Pets cannot be in-cabin on flights to, from, or through Hawaii -or these international cities. Pit Bull breeds are not allowed in-cabin. There is a $125 service charge each way and an additional $125 service charge for each stopover for more than four hours within the United States or more than 24 hours outside the United States.
