GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS
The FMAA is committed to supporting local, regional, and national efforts, including the City of Hailey’s Resiliency Initiative, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality, as well as the FAA’s goal of Net Zero by 2050, as set in the FAA Climate Action Plan (November 2021). As part of the Climate Action Strategy process, the Airport is evaluating measures to mitigate its impact on climate change.
The Friedman Memorial Airport Authority (FMAA), formed through a Joint Powers Agreement between Blaine County and the City of Hailey, operates and manages the Friedman Memorial Airport. The Airport is a commercial service airport serving several airlines and general aviation traffic. The FMAA purchased approximately 386 acres of property south of the Airport and developed 10.4 acres of the acquired property into general aviation hangars, aircraft parking aprons, and associated vehicle parking and roadways adjacent to existing Airport facilities. The FMAA sought federal funding to assist with property acquisition and aviation development.
