SUN AIRPORT PASSENGER ADVISORY

AS SUN ENTERS A NEW ERA OF WINTER FLIGHT RELIABILITY – THE WINTER BUSING PROGRAM CHANGES FOR AIRLINES AT SUN

Given the success of the recently implemented next generation LPV instrument approach into Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) utilized by SkyWest Airlines, and the proprietary RNP approach system utilized by Alaska Airlines, the winter diversion busing program will no longer be used for the Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Alaska Airlines flights at SUN.

GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

The FMAA is committed to supporting local, regional, and national efforts, including the City of Hailey’s Resiliency Initiative, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality, as well as the FAA’s goal of Net Zero by 2050, as set in the FAA  Climate Action Plan (November 2021). As part of the Climate Action Strategy process, the Airport is evaluating measures to mitigate its impact on climate change.

LAND ACQUISITION

The Friedman Memorial Airport Authority (FMAA), formed through a Joint Powers Agreement between Blaine County and the City of Hailey, operates and manages the Friedman Memorial Airport. The Airport is a commercial service airport serving several airlines and general aviation traffic. The FMAA  purchased approximately 386 acres of property south of the Airport and developed 10.4 acres of the acquired property into general aviation hangars, aircraft parking aprons, and associated vehicle parking and roadways adjacent to existing Airport facilities. The FMAA sought federal funding to assist with property acquisition and aviation development.

SCHEDULE A BADGING APPOINTMENT

Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) is dedicated to the health of staff, customers, and community. COVID-19 has required FMA to reconsider badging procedures to protect staff and external users (customers). SUN badging will be by appointment only, walk-ins will not be permitted.

AIRPORT MINIMUM STANDARDS

The Friedman Memorial Airport Authority (FMAA) is responsible for the management and administration of the Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) which includes operation, maintenance, and capital improvement of aviation buildings and facilities.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) places the responsibility with the Airport operator to ensure adequate aeronautical services and facilities are available on a fair and reasonable basis to all aviation users.

TERMINAL AREA PLAN

This Terminal Area Plan (TAP) identified terminal area functional components requiring renovation, expansion, and/or replacement to meet SUN’s needs within the next 10-15 years (2021 – 2035).
