Security

The Airport Security Department serves as the airport operator’s 24-hour primary and immediate contact for security-related activities and communications with the TSA, FAA, and airport tenants. The Airport Security department also handles the general oversight of airport security functions, including managerial elements, as required to maintain airport security under TSA 4 9 CFR Part 1542.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation and management of the Airport Security Plan (ASP)
  • Daily oversight of security provisions at FMA (SUN)
  • Compliance with the security program
  • Maintain and establish professional relationships with Air Carriers, TSA, and local Law Enforcement; the Airport Security Department must retain an extensive level of technical knowledge related to airport security.

Security Badging information

As of June 15, 2020:

The Friedman Memorial Airport is required by federal law to issue Airport Identification Badge(s) based on an operational legitimate need.  The established designated “Authorized Signatory Authority(s)” must make a formal request for access. Users/applicants are required to complete an Airport Identification Badge application; pass all required background assessments, and complete mandatory training prior to the issuance of the Airport AIB.

Airport Security

In accordance with federal law, access to the Friedman Memorial Airport, Airport Operations Area (AOA), Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) are controlled by an Airport approved, Airport Identification Badge (AIB).

The Friedman Memorial Airport is required by federal law to issue Airport Identification Badge(s) based on an operational legitimate need.  The established designated “Authorized Signatory Authority(s)” must make a formal request for access. Users/applicants are required to complete an Airport Identification Badge application; pass all required background assessments, and complete mandatory training prior to the issuance of the Airport AIB.

The FMA Airport Security Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of security-related duties to include AIB issuance, AIB annual and bi-annual audits, training, and record-keeping.  Please direct all questions relating to AIB issuance to the Airport Security Coordinator or Alternate Security Coordinator at 208-788-4956.

Required documentation - read carefully

  • Your designated Authorized Signatory Authority (company representative) must ensure that a completedsigned, and dated Authorized Signatory Authority form is submitted along with the required personal identification as described below.
  • The applicant must provide copies and original required personal identification (driver’s license and one of the following, i.e. passport, social security card, birth certificate). Personal identification requirements are referenced on the link List of Acceptable Documents.
  • All applicants will undergo a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA), please allow approximately seven to fourteen days for STA processing. Once approved an Airport Identification Badge (AIB) will be issued pending submittal of required forms, identification, and payment of applicable fees.
  • Payment of fees – Personal check, bank card (fees will apply), cash no longer accepted.
  • Direct billing is available to pre-established accounts or upon request. Badging Rates & Charges

Law enforcement patrol

Law enforcement activities at the Friedman Memorial Airport fall under the jurisdiction of the Hailey Police Department (HPD).

HPD officers regularly patrol and will provide law enforcement assistance at the Friedman Memorial Airport.

Regular patrols and oversight are also provided by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and FMA operations and security staff.
