Highlights from the June 6 Board Meeting included discussion of our air carrier apron and parking lot project, Environmental Assessment for the Runway 31 Runway Protection Zone obstruction removal/potential land acquisition, and preliminary FY2018 airport budget.
Staff and the Board will move forward with rebids of the air carrier apron and parking lot project. The original project bid and negotiations with the contractor still result in a project cost that is significantly over our available budget. Depending in the rebid process, we are still hoping that construction on the parking lot could begin this fall with the air carrier apron in the spring.
Our consultant helping us develop the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Runway 31 Runway Protection Zone obstruction removal/potential land acquisition delivered a “project kick-off” presentation to the Board. The presentation included the details of the process, accomplishments to date, and next steps. The draft EA is anticipated to be complete by the end of October. Additional project details can be found at our website at iflysun.com.
Lastly, staff presented and discussed a preliminary FY2018 budget for the airport. A revised draft budget and more detailed discussion of the budget between staff and the Board will take place at the July meeting. The public hearing for the proposed budget will be in August.
