SUN VALLEY, Idaho—Friedman Memorial Airport ushered in a new era of improved flight reliability and reduced weather-related diversions on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3:08 p.m. as SkyWest Flight 3528 emerged from low-level clouds and visibility to land safely at SUN —and on time.
The Delta Connection flight, operated by SkyWest Airlines, originated from Salt Lake City, and was the first SkyWest flight to arrive in instrument conditions using the new next generation approach procedure, approved earlier this year.
“It was awesome to see,” said Chris Pomeroy, Friedman Memorial Airport Manager. “This flight represents a game-changing effort among many partners here in the Valley, including our air carrier partners, to improve reliability at this airport. Now, our Delta and United customers, both operated by SkyWest, will benefit from this improved reliability.”
“It was rewarding to see our extensive flight operations work and partnership with the airport culminate with this safe arrival in conditions that would have previously resulted in a diversion,” said SkyWest Senior Vice President of Flight Operations Tracy Gallo. “We’re pleased to continue to enhance our exceptional service for customers traveling into beautiful Sun Valley.”
“We are excited about the improved travel experience for our airline customers and the benefits to the community that will result from these improvements,” Pomeroy added.
