You’ve probably heard the exciting news that United will be starting service with the Embraer E175 at SUN on June 30. Before that service begins however, Skywest (who proudly operates for United and Delta) is scheduled to return for follow-up testing and flight crew training of the E175 May 24 – 25. This next round of flight tests and crew training will result in additional non-typical activity including several departures and missed approaches over the City of Hailey. This activity is part of the necessary flight testing and crew training needed for FAA approval before the aircraft begins service at SUN on June 30.

Note, this activity WILL NOT be “the norm” when the aircraft starts operating at SUN. When in service, the E175 will operate in the same manner as the current Bombardier CRJ 700 Regional Jet operated by Delta and United Airlines. The E175 is a next generation regional jet “right sized” for our airport. It has improved performance capabilities and an enhanced level of passenger comfort. We are excited about this opportunity to improve our air service at our airport!
