The SUN Airport Art Committee (SAAC) invites artists to submit two- or three-dimensional artwork for exhibition at the Friedman Memorial Airport terminal. Accepted artwork will be on display beginning November 2026 through May 2027. There is no honorarium associated with this project, and there is no entry fee.
ELIGIBILITY: The project is open to artists residing in Blaine County, Idaho, as well as artists who are inspired by Central Idaho. The project is open to applicants regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or disability. Incomplete, ineligible, or late applications will not be reviewed.
PROJECT HISTORY: Friedman Memorial Airport was remodeled and expanded in 2015, creating additional wall space that airport management and the board saw as an opportunity to showcase artwork. Working with the Hailey and Ketchum Arts Commissions, the airport developed a vision for displaying artwork and initially installed pieces drawn from local galleries. The program has since evolved to include an open call to artists and galleries for longer-term exhibitions.
Exhibitions rotate twice annually, in November and May, with different seasonal artwork selected for each cycle. Artwork may range in size from approximately 12" x 10" up to 98"H x 168"W.
ART COMMITTEE: Submitted work will be juried through a blind jury process by representatives of Friedman Memorial Airport, members of the Hailey and Ketchum Arts Commissions, local gallery owners, and arts advocates.
SUBMISSIONS: Artists may enter up to three artworks for consideration, including painting, photography, print, fiber, video, or three-dimensional wall-mounted work. Please note that not all submitted artwork will be selected.
